Watching content is no longer restricted to cable or satellite tv television. In recent years, premium streaming services such as Netflix, Prime Video, Sky and other channels have captured a significant amount of market share. Each passing year witnessed a rise in the premium streaming services’ share in the global market.
In this review, we are particularly discussing the leading sports streaming site – CricFree. It is the penultimate streaming platform for sports lovers from around the world.
What is CricFree?
CricFree is one of the most trusted brands in the world of free sports streaming. It provides viewers access to their favorite sports through links from across the web. You’ll find everything from PPV and premium content to free-to-air networks. Some of the content that draws major traffic to the website includes the English Premier League, NBA, NFL, and MLB along with La Liga and Serie A. CricFree helps you save at least $30/mo which you’d usually spend on premium streaming sites to access the sports content.
Why should you stream on CricFree?
To access any live stream, you’re required to create an account on CricFree. Almost all the major free streaming portals with closed communities are able to last longer as compared to free-to-stream websites. Having said that, you don’t have to pay a dime to become a member on this streaming site. It just requires you to sign-in, so you can make the most of features such as in-game chatbox and donations.
Though there are no official numbers that I can provide. After researching for a while, I can suggest that CricFree is generating traffic in excess of 100,000 users a month. And that’s no surprise as the platform provides the best links to its viewers. Quite recently, CricFree provided good quality links to Fury vs Wilder 2 which saw the streaming site attract thousands of visitors.
Wide-range of content
Don’t let the first half of the name fool you for Cricket. CricFree is not a pure cricket related website. It caters to a diverse range of sports and you can find all popular sports leagues and tournaments on this platform. You don’t need to subscribe to this channel or pay any money. Quite recently, they have started a donation section to cover up the server cost, apart from that they share links to a wide range of content without charging any fee.
CricFree is having a hard time dealing with the growing number of users. They can’t afford server expenses with display and pop-up ads alone. Thus, quite recently they have started a campaign asking the users to donate to the platform so they can make it ad-free. This is a great initiative for this platform as it will get the financial support and in-return it’ll be able to provide quality service with an emphasis on user experience.
As part of their new initiative, CricFree is also planning on increasing the number of channels so it’s no longer restricted to sports content. It’ll likely turn into a full-fledged IPTV website if it receives enough financial backing for its users. And given the cult following that it has, I’m quite sure that it will be successful in achieving its goal. If it is able to add more channels such as premium movies and tv shows, its user-base will grow dramatically.
How to access CricFree?
Accessing CricFree is not a tough task. You can do so by searching for the term ‘CricFree’ in your search engine. Alternatively, you can also use the following link: CricFree, if you want to access the website at your own convenience.
CricFree’s design is quite simple and straightforward. The menus and categories are simple and quite easy to navigate. The logo is shambolic and the channel icons seem off. Other than that, the blue and light grey color combination looks quite decent. Let’s check out different sections on this website in detail.
The header section of this website just features a logo followed by 12 different icons indicating a particular sport. Herein, you’ll find different sports such as Football, Cricket, Basketball, Baseball, Rugby, Darts, Boxing, Tennis, American Football, Hockey, Motorsport, and Golf.
The sports categories and icons can also be considered as a part of the hero section as they don’t necessarily feature in the header section. However, since we’ve already considered them to be a part of the header section, let’s move forward.
Under the icons, you’ll find different football leagues such as English Premier League, Champions League, Europa League, FA Cup, English Championship, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga and Ligue 1.
Under these competitions, you can find top sports channels such as Sky Sport, BT Sport, Euro Sport, ESPN, SportsNet, Fox TSN, beIN Sports alongside a few others.
As you scroll further, you’ll get a horizontal list of fixtures that aren’t segregated. There are 25 entries on each page and you also have the option to search for the fixture you want to watch directly. Towards the right, you can find the ‘Donate’ section. There are numerous payment method icons right under the Donate tab. Upon scrolling further, you’ll still find the continued list of fixtures with chat rooms rules on the right. If you want to be a member of CricFree, you must read those rules first.
The footer section of CricFree doesn’t have any navigation option. It just has a simple text which doesn’t seem to be updated as it still reads 2019.
If you click on any option on the homepage, you’ll be directed to the inner pages. I wanted to watch football and didn’t have anything specific in mind. Thus, upon clicking the football icon, I entered the inner page where I saw a list of fixtures with Date, Title and Feed Information. Each fixture had two feed options – Watch and HD. Much to my pleasure, I found that there were two good matches on that day – PSG vs Bordeaux in Ligue 1 and Atletico vs Villareal in Liga BBVA.
Content is CricFree’s stronghold. A viewer who hasn’t heard about the website can presume that the stream would just be restricted to cricket content. However, that can’t be any further from the truth. CricFree is a comprehensive sports streaming platform that is packed with great links. From the homepage itself, we can learn about the great content depth that this platform has to offer.
As for sports, you get access to Football, Cricket, Basketball, Baseball, Rugby, Darts, Boxing, Tennis, American Football, Hockey, Motorsport, and Golf.
As for channels, you can access ‘Sky Sport’, ‘BT Sport’, ‘Euro Sport’, ‘ESPN’, ‘SportsNet’, ‘Fox TSN’, and ‘beIN Sports.’
As mentioned earlier, if the donation thing works out, CricFree will not only be ad-free but will also add new content buckets to its website. Thus, you can expect entertainment content to hit the shore soon.
I streamed CricFree from my HP laptop and my Google Pixel 3a. Browsing on the website and navigating across different menus was fairly simple. There were few misclicks and pop-ups here and there but I was able to deal with it. Remember, if you’re a first-time streamer, you’ll initially find those pop-ups irritating. Also, as a new user, it’s hard to trust a free streaming site, thus it’s okay if you’re reluctant to make an account. I am too. However, based upon my experience, I’d advise you to go ahead and do it as you’ll get access to quality content.
Suggestions I have for CricFree
I appreciate the efforts taken by the developers towards making the platform ad-free. I’m more than okay with donating a dollar or two if they can keep up the great quality. I just hope that all the users join hands with small donations so they can afford the server cost and keep the website running.
CricFree is a good platform for streaming live sports content. I often watch football on this channel, however, there are many other sports that you can enjoy. I’d give this website a thumbs up and I can’t wait for the time they go ad-free as it will make streaming much better and safer.
