The best way to watch anime is at home, cozied up with a mountain of blankets. There are many websites that allow viewers to stream in various video qualities. 9Anime is a streaming website that provides high-quality streams with a plethora of unique features.

There is little known about the history and creation of the website. However, there is a Frequently Asked Questions section available. There is also a contact form and request for specific media.

Website Design

The website design has some positives and negatives. The major flaw is the pop-up advertisements. There is also a large number of ads in sidebars and headers. The navigation of the streaming site is negatively impacted by the ads. Users must click multiple times on links to be able to reach their destinations.

The layout of the website is good. The main menu is clean and includes the perfect options. From left to right it reads genre, newest, latest update, ongoing, types, schedule, request, movies, and random. The sidebar menu is a shortcut to filtering through the content. There is also an A-Z sorting list at the footer of the page.

Other than ads, the website is visually appealing. The default mode of the site is dark mode. It has hints of purples and grey mixed with black. The text logo matches the color. The purple highlights make reading text in this mode easy. One feature that I find interesting is the change mode button in the bottom right of the website. When users flip the switch, it changes the color scheme from night-mode to a bright crisp white, purple, and grey color scheme. The modes swap so flawlessly it looks like someone turned on a light in a room.

The content on 9Anime is very impressive. The library boasts an enormous collection of titles. There are many different types of media available on the website. The website is also frequently updated in order to keep up with ongoing series.

9Anime stocks a large library of subtitled and dubbed shows. There are many popular shows that are currently airing that the website keeps up with. They also have quite a few older shows. The types of media the website hosts are tv shows, movies, ongoing series, fresh and new series, OVAs, ONAs, and specials.

The genres available on 9Anime is a very impressive list. Some of them include Action/Adventure, Cars, Comedy, Dementia, Demons, Drama, Ecchi, Fantasy, Game, Harem, Historical, Horror, Kids, Magic, Martial Arts, Military, Music, Mystery, Parody, Romance, School, Sci-Fi, Shoujo, Shounen, Slice of Life, Sports, Thriller, Vampire, Supernatural, Yaoi, and Yuri. There are many titles in each category. Your options are boundless on 9Anime.

Another feature that 9Anime boasts is its comprehensive description section. Under each anime, there are information sections. These sections include Type, Studio, Date Aired, Status, Genre, Scores, Rating, Duration, Quality, Views, and a small excerpt about the show.

Desktop & Mobile Accessibility

The desktop version of this website is not very good. As previously stated, advertisements and pop-ups are overwhelming. The navigation is hindered greatly by these distractions. They are so frustrating it is difficult to stay interested in the website.

There is no mobile application for 9Anime. The mobile browser version of the website is possibly a better layout. The visuals on the mobile look amazing. The formatting presents the advertisements in a more subtle manner. However, the pop-ups are still rampant. The load time on mobile felt a little slower. Overall, I still think the mobile may be the best version to use.

There are some really unique features that 9Anime uses. I really love the autoplay and auto-next buttons. It reminds me of Netflix. A lot of other good streaming websites forget to add these and I appreciate that 9Anime took the time to add that. The video and audio quality of this website are also top-notch quality.

The Frequently Asked Questions section is a nice portion of the website. It answers some very common questions that users might have about the website. The legality of streaming websites is sometimes questionable and 9Anime does a great job at setting users’ minds at ease.

The anime chibi characters are a very cute addition to the theme of the site. Speaking of unique features – the change theme button is pretty amazing. If you flip the switch, the website changes from night mode to a lighter version. Another interesting feature I found on the website was the random button. If you click it the website sends you to a random title. It is a fun way to watch something different without sifting through the library.

There is an enormous library on 9Anime. The website keeps up with current ongoing anime and updates frequently. They also stock a large amount of older anime in subtitled and dubbed versions. The best part of the enormous library is the sorting system. It is phenomenal. There are so many ways to organize the titles.

Lastly, the information section is an incredibly useful tool. The description includes Type, Studio, Date Aired, Status, Genre, Scores, Rating, Duration, Quality, Views, and a small text about the show. It is perfect for viewers who want to know the complete history of the title they are watching.

There really aren’t very many negatives about 9Anime. The biggest issue is the ads. They are so in your face and non-stop that it hinders the viewing experience. It’s tough to judge a website based on this because advertisement support is what keeps them alive.

Another negative is the slow load times. For the most part, the video and audio quality are great. The load time, in the beginning, is somewhat slow. The load times for other pages and general navigation is incredibly slow.

Improvements Needed

The biggest improvements that could be made to 9Anime would be to find a different way besides ads and advertisements to support the website. If the advertisements were about half as many as there are currently this website would be at the top of my best anime streaming sites list. Unfortunately, it is such a glaring issue that it cannot be ignored. If there was a social media presence that could ask for donations that may be a way to cut down some. Another tactic I have seen streaming sites use is to create a community and start Discord servers. These usually create a sense of friendship and make viewers more likely to donate.

Creating a mobile application is another great way the website could improve. It would be difficult to do since the website uses 3rd party links, but I’m sure there is a way that it could work. The app could serve as a viewing platform, as well as a community hub if comments or forums are allowed.

9Anime is easily one of the top anime streaming websites. If there were fewer advertisements and pop-ups, I could say it is the best one out there. However, the pop-ups are so bothersome it is a chore to keep closing them while navigating the website.

The desktop version is a mess of ads. There are ads in the header, sidebars, and some that pop-up. The general look of the website is very hip and cool. It includes a change theme button on the bottom that is unique. The mobile version is much more polished. The advertisements are spread out a lot better on mobile, as well. There are still pop-ups, but not as bad. I recommend viewing the mobile version when possible.

Overall, I would recommend using this site with caution. If you have antivirus software or a pop-up blocking deflector you will be fine. The content is amazing and the website has a lot to offer past the ads.
