The number of movies that release each year has grown exponentially over the past few decades. It is quite hard to keep track of every movie that releases because there’s one coming out every week. In 2019 itself, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson was part of four movies –‘Jumanji’, ‘Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw’, ‘Fighting with my Family’ and ‘Shazam!’ This goes to show the volume of movies rolling out each year.
Movie databases have garnered praise and have become widely popular because they help the audience to consume data without being overwhelmed. With websites such as MovieWeb, viewers can now rely on a trustworthy platform to provide them honest reviews on movies and TV shows. That has been one of the key reasons why MovieWeb is one of the most visited websites in the US. Viewers always want to read about the movie before spending their money and most importantly, their time.
What is MovieWeb?
MovieWeb is a movie hub catering to the needs of movie enthusiasts from around the country. They provide the latest information and news to help the viewers stay up-to-date with the entertainment world. Not just that, they also revisit movies from the past and preview the upcoming movies.
MovieWeb began its journey in the year 1995. It was among the earliest websites to cover pure movie content. In August 2000, they collaborated with video retail software provider ‘Unique Business Systems Inc.’ and video rental chain ‘Video Update.’ Presently, they are distribution partners of Hulu and are also involved in video content production for IMDb.com. Furthermore, they run their websites from their offices in LA and New York. To date, they continue to win the hearts of people and remain a trusted source for entertainment content.
Why should you stream on MovieWeb?
If you love to stay up-to-date with what’s happening in the world of showbiz, then MovieWeb is the best platform to do so. You get all the breaking news instantly and in a presentable manner so you can have clarity on the content you consume. MovieWeb is not just restricted to movie news, it also provides insightful information from the TV News industry.
While I admit that YouTube is the best place to watch movie trailers and connect with the audience, websites such as MovieWeb do a great job of providing a great experience. That’s because you can find all the content in one place and don’t have to jump channels to find a movie trailer you love. Also, their in-built video player allows you to watch the content on the website itself.
The world of movies and tv shows is filled with conspiracies, alternate endings, prophecies, and unexpected events. Readers love to read about the unpredictable plots and strengthen their connection with a series. For instance, a TV show like Game of Thrones before its final season had more than a dozen prophecies regarding who’d survive till the end and how the show will end. Websites like MovieWeb attract users because they use captivating theories which the audience love to read.
Smooth user interface
The overall design of the website is smooth. Everything flows really well. Thus, you won’t have a hard time finding the content you want to read. Navigation around the website is fairly simple and you’ll face no discrepancies while doing so. Features such as search bar and well-diversified categories allow you to consume content quickly.
Active Social Presence
An aspect I really like about MovieWeb is that it is present across all the major platforms. Thus, the video content you see on the website can be found on their YouTube channel as well. Nonetheless, if you love to read about gossip and news, then the website truly provides the best experience. For breaking news, you can connect with the channel on Twitter. For interesting scoops and graphic-based content, you should follow their Instagram account.
MovieWeb has a simple teal grey and white color combination which you’d mostly find on the premium movies and betting sites. The website in terms of content layout is quite identical to CinemaBlend which has a long body section.
The header of MovieWeb is quite simple with a greyish teal background and white texts. You can find five main options – Movie News, 2020 movies, Movie Trailers, Movie Reviews and TV News at the center. The website’s logo on the left and social media icons on the right. You can connect with the channel on platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube. Lastly, you’d find a search bar on the right-hand side.
The website follows a news template and thus there’s no dedicated homepage banner. You get a banner that represents the hottest scoop of that particular day. At the time of writing, Brad Pitt’s take on Senate and Leonardo DI Caprio’s Oscar speech was trending. On the right side, you will probably find a GDN banner under which you have the trending section. As you scroll down, you’ll find the latest news which at the time of writing was ‘Joaquin Phoenix wins his first Oscar for Joker’.
The body section similar to CinemaBlend is quite long. There are horizontal titles on the left and there are small thumbnails with headlines on the right. I like the varying approach as it makes the website appear less monotonous and more engaging. Though there are no more color experiments and it’s just content-laden, the different arrangement brings a breath of fresh air.
The footer section on the website is fairly simple. It has four options – About, Privacy, Terms, and Contact. Above that, you can find social media icons – similar to the ones in the header. Right above the footer, there’s yet another GDN banner which in my opinion doesn’t distract the user or feel intrusive in any way.
The inner pages on the MovieWeb website follow the homepage pattern. They’re minimal and have tiny thumbnails of movie titles. Each category has a summary on a grey backdrop and under that, you can find the list of movies based upon their release date. On the right, you will find a blue pillar section with options such as ‘New Movies’, ‘Movies This Week’, ‘Movies Now Playing’, ‘Movies Coming Soon’, ‘Popular Movies 2020’. Under that section, you’d find top movies recommended by MovieWeb.
MovieWeb is filled with content related to movies – breaking news, featured stories, interviews, and exclusive scoops. On MovieWeb, you’ll find updated stories every couple of hours. They have dedicated sections for different events. For instance, at the time of reviewing the website, there were many articles and listicles covering the Oscar ceremony. There are interviews, video content and other exclusive scoops available on the channel.
You can read about blockbuster movies like ‘Joker’ and you can also read about critically acclaimed movies such as ‘Parasite’, ‘1917’, ‘The Farewell’ and ‘Midsommar’. Some of the titles whose extensive coverage you’ll be able to find on this platform include ‘Star Wars 9’, ‘Marvel Phase 4’, ‘Godzilla vs. Kong’, ‘Captain Marvel’, ‘IT: Chapter Two’, ‘Deadpool 2’, ‘Batman’, ‘Spiderman: Far From Home’, ‘James Bond 25’, and ‘Terminator Dark Fate.’
Under each category, you’ll have subcategories. For example, if you click on the sports, you’ll find subcategories such as ‘NFL’, ‘Basketball’, ‘UFC’, ‘Odds’, ‘Betting’, ‘College Football’, ‘Soccer’, ‘Golf’, ‘WAGs’, and ‘Baseball.’
You can access MovieWeb from any platform. Whether you’re on your desktop or smartphone, you’ll most probably find a responsive mobile website. I browsed the website from my iPhone XR and Pixel 3a and liked the optimized mobile site. The ads were placed well and thus there were no discrepancies while navigating the website. I’m not against ads but most of the developers just place it right below the header which is a red light straight away since the user hardly begins his/her on-site experience.
Plans & Pricing
MovieWeb is accessible for free. You don’t have to purchase any subscriptions, etc.
Suggestions I have for MovieWeb
I like the overall website. However, I feel there’s always room for improvement. The developers should definitely look into making the body section more compact and accessible. Content placed horizontally with little too no room comes off as lazy designing.
MovieWeb is certainly a platform that will keep you hooked. Their broad coverage of entertainment news, interviews, trailers, teasers, and fantasy predictions attracts a lot of users from across the globe. If you love reading about movies and celebs, MovieWeb has the perfect setup for you.
