Shortly thereafter, due to overwhelming success, DR Update was added on as a traditional television channel as well. <p>There are only a handful of cable networks that have managed to successfully survive the seismic shift in the media landscape that came with the dawn of the 21st century. The television industry, as a whole, seemed to be almost stubbornly skeptical of the internet over the course of the last 30 years. The internet, however, strode on regardless, and computers quickly unseated televisions as the new hearth of the home.</p><p>Some companies, of course, were eager to position themselves at the forefront of the streaming revolution. Netflix is easily the most notable example of this. They wasted no time making the switch from providing DVD rentals through the postal service to propping themselves up as the company whose name is synonymous with streaming itself. Whether planning to watch Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon Prime Video, people often simply use “Netflix” as the convenient shorthand for streaming TV or movies – best reflected in the salacious phrase, “Netflix and chill.”</p><p>In 2020, though, just about every traditional cable network has adapted to the times, with varying levels of fervor. Some networks have simply embedded live and on-demand TV streaming right onto their websites (although, more often than not, viewers are still required to sign in via their traditional cable provider in order to watch anything), whereas others have gone so far as to put themselves in direct competition with the behemoth that is Netflix by creating their own premium streaming platforms. HBO is a prime example of a more traditional network that was quick to bridge the gap between TV and the internet (in fact, there are three separate platforms on which you can stream HBO content: HBO Max, HBO Now, and HBO Go).</p><p>Disney, too, finally joined the streaming party just last year when they introduced their record-breaking streaming platform, Disney Plus. Better late than never, right? Another cable network, though, that has recently decided to throw its hat into the ring is NBC. Their premium streaming service, Peacock, just launched earlier this month, on July 15th (2020).</p><p>Honestly, if any traditional TV network deserves its own streaming platform, NBC is probably it. They have been pumping out quality television for nearly 100 years now. In fact, NBC is one of the few channels that I do brush the dust off the old TV every once in a while for. There are very few shows that I feel compelled to watch live as they air, and NBC broadcasts several of them.</p><p>Peacock, however, is much more than just a way to stream NBC’s original content. It offers thousands of hours of syndicated movies and TV shows as well, which makes it a totally viable alternative to Netflix or Hulu. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if Peacock didn’t run away with a sizeable portion of Netflix’s viewership – if only because The Office will soon be available exclusively on Peacock starting January 1st, 2021 (when the show gets pulled from its longtime home of Netflix).</p><p>In addition to all of your favorite NBC original shows, as well as hundreds of syndicated TV series and classic movies (and The Office), Peacock offers a truly unique blend of content. Enjoy live sports events, such as matches from the English Premier League, a daily dose of news (from NBC, CNBC, MSNBC, and E! News), and new original Peacock exclusive series. As far as content is concerned (both in terms of quality and quantity), Peacock is starting to look rather appealing, is it not?</p><p>Content, though massively important, is not everything. In order to know for certain whether Peacock is going to be worth your money – (do we really need another monthly streaming bill?) – is to dive on in and take a critical look at everything that the streaming service has to offer. What are Peacock’s strengths? What are its failings? How much will it cost you each month? There is a lot to cover here, too, so, without further ado, I give you the newest premium streaming service on the market, Peacock.</p><h3>Design</h3><p>The very first thing that stood out to me about Peacock was its sleek, modern, clean, minimalist design. It’s slick, and it’s pretty intuitive. I love the way that Peacock looks. In fact, I would go as far as to say that it is the best-looking premium streaming service out there at the moment. It looks, to be frank, something like I expected Apple TV to look – with its very clean lines and app-like navigation style (browse the sections of the service by clicking one of 9 tabs at the top of the page: Channels, Browse, Featured, TV Shows, Movies, Kids, News, Sports, or Latino).</p><p>As far as usability is concerned, I do have some minor complaints. There is no “skip” or “next episode” button, for instance, which will make binging your favorite comfort shows more annoying than it should be (this is quite a big miss, too, considering the fact that Peacock is staking quite a bit of its credit to snatching up its exclusive rights to shows like The Office and Parks and Rec). You have to go through the trouble of returning to the episode list (which is also not conveniently accessible while watching content) every time you want to jump ahead in a series.</p><p>So, in short, I would say that Peacock looks phenomenal. Unfortunately, though, this comes at the cost of user experience.</p><h3>Content and Features</h3><p>Peacock makes up for its usability oversights in the quality (and quantity) of its content. As I mentioned, starting next year, Peacock will be the only streaming service where you’ll be able to watch America’s two favorite comedies: The Office and Parks and Rec. And it has every other NBC show you can think of.</p><p>Peacock also offers plenty of movies, news content, original Peacock shows and movies, and live sporting events. It seems to me, though, like signing up for Peacock now is more of an investment in your streaming future than it is an immediate concern. Just about every one of the NBC shows that are on Peacock (and many of the movies) are available on other streaming services (at the moment). Peacock is really going to fan its feathers, I think, come next year when many of those shows will not be available anywhere else.</p><h3>Mobile and Desktop Experience</h3><p>As is often the case with a new app, this one needs to work out some issues. Again, it looks nice, but the functionality is subpar. There is no mini-screen streaming, for instance, that allows you to continue watching content while you browse for something else. There are also many reviews on the Apple App Store that claim the live streaming quality is not great.</p><p>My biggest complaint, though, is the service’s device limitations. It is not available on Roku or Firestick at the moment, and it doesn’t look as if there are any plans in the works for either of these tremendously common platforms to welcome Peacock to the fold any time soon. However, if you use a Vizio or LG smart TV, Android TV, Xbox One, or Chromecast, you can enjoy Peacock to its full potential.</p><h3>Pricing and Plans</h3><p>One thing that makes Peacock stand out is the fact that it advertises the ability to start streaming content for free with no credit card required. However, content is limited, naturally, with this free version. If you want Peacock Premium, you are looking at $4.99/month. And that is with ads. Much like Hulu, you’ll pay extra for an ad-free streaming experience ($5 more Premium Plus).</p><p>In other words, Peacock is not offering anything revolutionary in the way of monthly payments. To the service’s credit, though, they do not charge you anything extra in order to take advantage of the live sports streaming, which actually is quite rare in the world of streaming services.</p><h3>Suggestions that I have for Peacock</h3><p>Honestly, I think Peacock should do more usability and functionality tests. Maybe even conduct a few more focus groups to really nail down what it is that people want, features wise, from their streaming service. I want to like Peacock, I really do, but I am hoping that in the months to come, they can work out some of their shortcomings when it comes to usability.</p><p>Secondly, Peacock really needs to work out its accessibility issue. Frankly, they should have had this already taken care of long before they launched. The fact that I can’t stream Peacock on my Roku TV is unacceptable.</p>

I think that, aesthetically speaking, Ketnet offers one of the best free cartoon streaming site designs on the web.</p><p>Practically speaking, though, it is a little cluttered and chaotic. There is a good chance that you are going to have to do a lot of browsing for your children, whereas other free cartoon streaming sites are made so simple and user-friendly that even a child could likely navigate it on their own. I feel like my eye is being led in 100 different directions at one time, as if this site was made for kids with ADD. I think a child could very easily find this to be overwhelming or overstimulating. Ketnet, however, seems overly concerned with providing a sort of kid-friendly version of popular internet culture.</p><p>A lot of the videos here are what I would describe as kids’ versions of Tik Tok content. In other words, some of the videos promote a more superficial, vapid way of thinking than I would prefer. For instance, videos with titles like “Decide what Sander should wear during Kingsize Live” and “Create a cool tag for Hoodie actors” seem to stand out to me. Sure, that sounds fun and all, but can’t we blend fun with educational? Maybe I’m just being a stickler or a no-fun parent, but that kind of thing matters a great deal to me.</p><p>Ketnet, however, features all of its most popular shows – like Wrap, Karrawiet, Wannabe’s, Hoodie, Stip It, and others – alongside movies and games. Also, just to be clear, it’s not as if there aren’t any educational videos to stream here. Ketnet does feature a documentary series called Ket &amp; Doc, as well as series about space, dinosaurs, and professions. I just wanted to make it known that this kind of content is few and far between, in the grand scheme of this free cartoon streaming site.</p><h3>Mobile and Desktop Experience</h3><p>Unfortunately, Ketnet does not appear to have any mobile apps available at this time. Nor does it have any smart TV apps, making it far from the best free cartoon streaming site in terms of cross-platform compatibility. This came as a part of a new agreement with Comcast Xfinity, including digital rights to the programming broadcast on Disney’s cable channels through authenticated streaming.</p><p>In 2017, though, Disney announced that it would be combining all of its children’s TV streaming vehicles into a singular, much larger platform: Disney Now. All 3 services – Disney Junior, Channel, and XD were combined with Radio Disney into a unified library and streaming service: Disney Now. In addition to on-demand and live TV and radio streaming, Disney Now also features exclusive games that are based on programs, parental controls (lock the site to Disney Junior only, if you wish), and a profile system so each child has his own favorites list, permissions, and viewing history.</p><p>When Disney Plus launched in 2019, though, Disney Now began gradually removing content from its service, hoping to encourage parents to succumb to pressures from their children and subscribe to Disney Plus (a real evil genius move, if you ask me). Today, though, Disney Now still has a fairly robust catalog of series and cartoons to stream.</p><h3>Design</h3><p>In classic Disney fashion, every aspect of Disney Now is top-notch and full of <em>wow</em>. The site design is a great example. There is no question about it, Disney Now presents the best free cartoon user interface of all time. Easily. The site is interactive, fun, bright, engaging, and easy to use. I have never seen a site quite like it, let alone a free streaming site.</p><p>The general layout of the site is fairly typical for a streamer. You’ll find a site menu at the very top of the page, a giant banner just below it which automatically carousals featured series and episodes of favorite shows, and then a descending series of menus separated by category, organized into rows. Browse by your favorites, continue watching, what’s trending, what’s new, and various themes, series, and characters.</p><p>What really makes this site’s design stand out, though, is its responsive and interactive nature. When you hover your cursor over a thumbnail, for instance, it rapidly jumps up off the page (ever so slightly). When you click on an icon in the site menu bar, it animates and makes a cheerful <em>ding </em>sound along with your click. Everything about this site is fun, easy to use, and enjoyable. You’ll love it just as much as your kids do.</p><h3>Content and Features</h3><p>As far as features go, I already touched on a few. But, to reiterate, you have parental locks (to block Disney XD and Disney Channel from the wee ones if you so desire); you have a profile system, so that each kid can have his or her very own Disney Now experience; you can add episodes to your favorites list; and you have tons of fun games that coincide with the free cartoons. The result of all of this combined is a nearly comprehensive, multimedia experience that no other free cartoon streaming site comes remotely close to rivaling. There is no competing with Disney, though, that is no surprise.</p><p>Other than all of that, Disney Now is known as the best free cartoon streaming site because of its content as well. <h3>One Site can Lead a Cultural Shift</h3><p>Every once in awhile, a rare website comes around that absolutely revolutionizes the ways in which we consume media. Napster, for instance, changed the way we think about monetizing media, ownership, Copywrite laws, and file sharing. It resulted in a huge challenge to the status quo, stripping power and influence over art from the few media conglomerates that run the world and returning it to the hands of the consumer. It, in other words, liberated media by presenting an alternate world in which it could be free.</p><p>Another site, though, that has had an equally crucial effect on the way in which we consume media, particularly video content, is YouTube. Prior to YouTube’s launch, our options were rather limited for what kinds of videos we’d have access to. People could basically choose from one of but a few choices.</p><p>We could either watch preprogrammed television shows whenever they happened to be on, go to the movie theater and pay to see a film, head on over to a video rental store like Blockbuster and rent a movie or, of course, use a file-sharing site like Napster to download a movie.</p><p>However, YouTube rose up, seemingly out of nowhere, and offered us not only a new way to watch videos but a new way to share our own, as well as a whole slew of previously impossible content for us to enjoy. I don’t think that YouTube gets nearly as much credit as it deserves for putting a spotlight on video streaming, proving that a video streaming site could be both practical, scalable, and profitable.</p><p>Someone always has to clear the path for the rest. Without YouTube, it seems plausible to say that there would be no Netflix, Hulu, HBO Go, or Amazon Prime Video. YouTube had to lay down the technical groundwork … and thank goodness that they did. Because it has made possible so many streaming sites that we know, love, and enjoy on a regular basis today.</p><p>YouTube was founded by three people who’d previously worked together at PayPal. Steve Chen, Chad Hurley, and Jawed Karim created the video streaming service in February of 2005. Shortly thereafter, though, in November of 2006, Google bought YouTube for 1.6 billion US dollars … a very intelligent buy, if you ask me. Today, YouTube is still owned and operated by Google, as one of the company’s subsidiaries.</p><h3>More than Meets the Eye</h3><p>We are all familiar, I would think, more or less, with how YouTube works. But just in case there are some features or types of content that perhaps you were unaware existed on YouTube, let’s run through the gambit of everything this massive streaming site allows you to do and watch.</p><p>YouTube users can view, rate, share, and comment on videos – obviously – as well as create personalized playlists of video content … something that is still unheard of on most other video streaming sites. Another way that YouTube differs itself from its competitors lies in the fact that users can also upload an unlimited amount of video content, create live video broadcasts, and regularly video blog.</p><p>This user-generated focus that YouTube has made its bread and butter has also resulted in the production of tons of unique and previously unheard-of types of video content. For example, thanks to YouTube, we have seen the rise of the “unboxing video,” where YouTubers will order a product, open it up on video, and show how the product works, as well as give a review of their thoughts of it. This has resulted in companies finding new and creative ways to market products and contributed to the “influencer” culture that now dominates social media.</p><p>YouTube also inspired sites like Twitch, believe it or not. Before Twitch’s existence, people were uploading videos of themselves playing video games for years. YouTube was the original place where these kinds of streamers would post content. Twitch, after the fact, realized that there was a huge opportunity in this burgeoning market, of course, and swiftly capitalized on it.</p><p>Then, there has been a more recent phenomenon on YouTube of people simply reacting to new music, standup comedy, or movie trailers when they come out. They sort of function as reviews that you can watch. YouTube reviewers are by no means experts in their field or anything, but they can be highly entertaining to watch – especially if the YouTuber in question has an electric or quirky personality.</p><p>All of this new media content that YouTube has inspired has also resulted in the ability to make a living off of uploading videos to YouTube. With a complex and highly regulated system of monetizing videos, you can become a professional YouTuber if you get enough clicks and follows.</p><p>It is not merely amateurish user-generated content that can be found on YouTube, though. Professional videos abound here, too. You will (probably) not be able to find full-length movies or TV show episodes on YouTube (at least not anymore), but there are plenty of clips and the occasional company-sanctioned full episode of a series.</p><p>But there are also whole corners of YouTube that you may not have even known about. YouTube is the home to a plethora of music videos, documentaries, mini-series, short films, cartoons, and educational videos. Basically, if it falls within the bounds of YouTube’s strict Copywrite policy, you can find it.</p><h3>A Staggeringly Large Video Streaming Phenomenon</h3><p>YouTube is a site that has truly taken on a life of its own. It has far outgrown anything, I bet, that the three creators initially dreamt it would become. I mean, had they foreseen this, there’s a good chance that they would have passed on the offer to sell YouTube to Google. Along with its rapid growth and continuing expansion, though, YouTube has seen a lot of backlash and degradation.</p><p>We have already touched upon, at least abstractly, the enormous amount of video content to be found on YouTube. But let’s start talking numbers, just to give you a very concrete idea of just how shockingly massive this streaming site is. It is hard to truly nail this number down, as YouTube is literally constantly growing, by the minute. But perhaps these stats from Merch Dope can illustrate the point in more depth: “The total number of people who use YouTube – 1,300,000,000. 300 hours of video are uploaded to YouTube every minute! Almost 5 billion videos are watched on YouTube every single day. In an average month, 8 out of 10 18-49-year-olds watch YouTube.”</p><p>There is truly no other video streaming site in the world with those kinds of numbers.</p><h3>Iconic Site Design</h3><p>But what about the site itself? How does it function? Is it designed well, easy to use? Let’s take a look and see for ourselves, shall we? YouTube’s site design, of course, is nothing short of iconic. It has inspired the layouts of nearly every video streaming service after it. And for good reason. It’s logical, effective, and intuitive.</p><p>You’ll find the search bar at the top of the page (which is probably how most people use YouTube most of the time). Below that, you’ll be given a bunch of videos to choose from, most of which will be based on your own viewing habits. They are separated into sections, starting with Recommended videos for you. Next, you’ll find news, latest posts, latest uploads by channels that you follow, YouTube mixes (popular playlists based on your viewing), and then even more recommended videos.</p><p>To the left of these thumbnails, you will find all of your personalized user features. This is where you can access your library, history, watch later, liked videos, your playlists, subscriptions, and a list of categories from which you can browse all of YouTube by tags like Fashion, Gaming, Sports, etc. Clicking on a video, too, keeps the viewing process streamlined.</p><p>Below the media player are all of the comments, where you can participate in a never-ending dialogue. And on the right-hand side of the screen are suggested videos for you to browse which are similar to this one. This is precisely how people fall into YouTube rabbit holes. This site is just too convenient for its own good!</p><h3>Too Many Ads Nearly Ruin an Otherwise Perfect Site</h3><p>There are some remarkable flaws to note about YouTube, though. The big one, at least for me, would be the number of ads you have to contend with. Many who have been using YouTube for a long time believe that the site has sold out, big time. If you have ever used YouTube before, you know just how obnoxiously long, frequent, and sometimes un-skippable these ads can be. Plus, oftentimes they will interrupt your videos multiple times through. YouTube is one of the most annoyingly ad-ridden sites on the web, no doubt.</p><p>That being said, there is truly no other site like it on the web … at least not of the same size. Love it or hate it, YouTube is here to stay and it will remain one of the top free video streaming sites in the world.</p>

There is a great deal of variance when it comes to free streaming sites – some sites have just about every movie and TV show you can think of, whereas others only have the most popular titles. The site’s banner, for instance, is an ad of some sort – spin the wheel game, which is all in Russian, so I have no idea what it promises in terms of winnings. I ignored it, though, and went straight to the content.</p><p>Scroll down and you’ll find a list of new titles, most popular, and hottest TV series. From there, it is just a matter of browsing until you find something that catches your eye. Or, of course, you can always search for a film or TV show in the search bar at the top of the page.</p><p>The site design isn’t horrible. It is, however, a little more cluttered than I tend to prefer, but, hey, to each his own, right?</p><h3>Content</h3><p>Although the majority of the films and shows that are promoted on the site’s home page, HD Rezka offers a wide variety of titles from all over the world. This is an area where many free movie and TV show streaming sites often falter, in not providing a versatile and diverse selection of films and shows. Oftentimes, the offerings will either be entirely Western or entirely Eastern. HD Rezka, on the other hand, has a vast list of movies and shows from a diverse range of countries and cultures – Indie and big-budget titles alike. And what’s best, the majority of the content found here is, as the site’s title promises, available to stream in HD.</p><h3>Mobile and Desktop Experience</h3><p>Although I did not encounter any problems playing any movies or shows on my laptop, my mobile experience was slightly different. Being located in the US, it appears as if many titles were not available to me on my phone for some reason. I should note, though, that at the time of this review, the site mentions that it is going through the large-scale data recovery, so that could explain it. That being said, the site appears almost identically on a smartphone as it does on the laptop, so, it at least appears optimized and usable on mobile devices as well.</p><h3>Suggestions that I have for HD Rezka</h3><p>HD Rezka has a lot of ads. And when I say a lot, I mean a lot. There are, if you don’t have an ad blocker, ads everywhere on this site – on each page, in the margins, underneath videos, above videos, ads that play before content buffers. The site is unabashedly funded by ads. I would suggest that HD Rezka find a different way to monetize their content so that the user experience wouldn’t be sacrificed. I suggest offering a premium version of the site, which could make it ad-free. I also suggest an app. It is rare for a free movie streaming site to have an app, but I think that a site as good as this one deserves to have one.</p>

<p>Kiss Cartoon is a streaming service dedicated to bringing viewers free cartoons. Finding a dedicated streaming service primarily dedicated to showing cartoons that are not anime is somewhat difficult. A lot of the competition like Nickelodeon and Boomerang are lacking.</p><p>The history of the website is not easy to track down; information about the creators is next to nonexistent. There are a few sister sites related to KissCartoon. The brand also offers streaming content in anime, manga, k-dramas, and movies. KissCartoon does not seem to have the same technical support that its anime counterpart has.</p><h3>Website Design</h3><p>The website design is not bad, just a little cluttered. The home page features the large Kiss Cartoon logo in the header. The logo looks a bit strange; it is the text of Kiss Cartoon, but the “o”s are replaced by eyeballs.</p><p>The theme and style of the website is night mode. The website utilizes monochromatic dark colors. Kiss Cartoon is aesthetically appealing because of its grey-scale theme that is accented by pops of orange.</p><p>The website is organized very well, similar to their anime website. On the right-hand sidebar, the site uses a list of genres for viewers to select. The further organization is added in the form of menus. Sort by alphabet, sort by popularity, latest update, and new cartoons are categories to choose from the primary menu. By default, the cartoons are sorted by the alphabet. The search function is an additional positive organization tool.</p><h3>Content</h3><p>Kiss Cartoon absolutely nails it in terms of content. Their video library is extensive. Over 5400 cartoon titles are offered on the website. The website offers completed and ongoing series.</p><p>The quality of the video and audio are okay. Apart from the advertisements plaguing the webpage, there are none in the middle of shows, which is a big plus. The sound quality is pretty good, but the video quality can sometimes become pixelated.</p><p>If Kiss Cartoon doesn’t have what you are looking for I suggest checking out their sister sites. There are plenty of sites related to this one that offers other genres and different content. Kiss Anime is a large streaming site for anime that has a large following. The other sites feature k-dramas, mangas, movies, and more. They are easily accessible on the first menu that hovers above the sorting menu.</p><h3>Desktop &amp; Mobile Accessibility</h3><p>The desktop browser is probably the best way to watch Kiss Cartoon. The website is not the best for streaming for a few reasons, but it still operates properly. The biggest issue is that it is glitchy, frequently. Once users get the hang of it, it’s not as bad.</p><p>Unfortunately, there is no mobile app for this webpage. The mobile browser version of the site is horrendous. It is a scaled-down version of the website but doesn’t have any modifications to optimize the site for phones. If accessing Kiss Cartoon on mobile be prepared to squint; the text is so minuscule it will strain viewers’ eyes.</p><h3>Positives</h3><p>Kiss Cartoon offers quite a few features that are positive. The large library full of cartoons is probably the biggest positive on the website. The library hosts more than 5400 unique titles.</p><p>The website offers free users access to an adblocker if you sign up for premium membership. Although this is a helpful option, I believe there are better ways to block the ads instead of paying for something viewers shouldn’t have to worry about. I’m willing to bet the same adblocker the subreddit for Kiss Anime also works with Kiss Cartoon, or that the subreddit could point viewers in the right direction to find one.</p><p>An interesting feature I noticed is that the episode videos have a comments section. Viewers can connect facebook and leave comments about their favorite shows. Interaction with other fans is a nice perk.</p><h3>Negatives</h3><p>The video quality could be improved drastically on this website. The beginning of streams starts out a little bit glitchy but smooths out eventually. However, even after the video balances out, the quality still is not up to par with most streaming sites.</p><p>Although the added comments to the episodes list may be positive, it can be negative as well. Fairly often, people will post spoilers in comments. So, whatever happens, don’t read them until you have finished the episode.</p><p>An unfortunate negative of the site is that there is no autoplay feature. After watching an episode you have the option to replay it. Otherwise, you have to exit and go back to episode lists to play the next one. It isn’t a deal-breaker, but considering how glitchy the site is, it becomes very frustrating.</p><p>The episode list is very organized. However, upon clicking on show titles, users are directed to a page that is riddled with lewd advertisements. The advertisements would not be an issue if they were appropriately placed, but the webpage makes it look like you have no option besides clicking on them. Instead, viewers must scroll further past to view an episode list in text form. It is also unfortunate that the website uses lewd advertisements on a cartoon website where minors are likely to be watching.</p><p>The most significant issue the website has is the glitches. The glitches are not small and are very frequent. Users are prompted to click multiple times before the webpage will load. When users click the first few times ads pop-up like crazy. The problem is persistent throughout the website. Even clicking on the search bar warrants pop-ups. There may be a solution and adblocker for this issue, but I am unwilling to download a lot of software on my computer. My biggest concern is my computer getting a virus from a website like this.</p><h3>Improvements Needed</h3><p>There are quite a few improvements Kiss Cartoon could make to improve its website. The content offered is nice, but the risks to get to it are unfavorable. They should focus on improving the viewer experience.</p><p>One of the first things I would improve on Kiss Cartoon is the glitches. If the advertisements are necessary, offering free ad-blocker in some form would be nice. Offering a guide on how to use the website at a more optimal rate could also be a good solution.</p><p>Another improvement that should be made immediately is implementing an app. Mobile viewing is very popular among users, so the website is missing out on a lot of traffic by not developing appropriate applications. If a mobile app is out of the question, considering a major overhaul to the mobile browser could be a good compromise.</p><h3>Summary</h3><p>Overall, Kiss Cartoon is an okay choice for streaming services. There are better streaming platforms out there, but in the cartoon niche options are limited. <p>I grew up in an age of parenting that has been highly criticized by some for its method of treating the television as a babysitter. That being said, some of my fondest memories from childhood stem from being sat in front of the TV for hours. I grew up on Nickelodeon and shows like Power Rangers, and I don’t think I would have had it any other way. And I like to think that I’m well-adjusted enough, despite watching hours of children’s entertainment during my formative years. Maybe I’m biased, but it seems as if this criticism of parents from my era depending too heavily on the TV to keep kids occupied may not be sound after all.</p><p>Plus, as a parent now myself, I can truly see the other side of it. Raising children is tough work. It requires constant time and attention – which, if you want to keep the lights and the heat on, we don’t always have. So, what is the harm really in throwing on a TV show that makes the kid happy so that you can do what you have to do to keep your job in the afternoons?</p><p>Look, I’m not saying it’s okay to neglect your kids and rely entirely on cartoons to teach and occupy them. Entertainment is certainly no substitution for parenting. I’m just saying that once in a while, life becomes way too busy to not have a toolbox of solid children’s entertainment for them to enjoy while you make sure you don’t fall behind with the other necessary demands of life.</p><p>Nowadays, parents are fortunate enough to have a ton of resources at our disposal. The TV, in other words, is no longer located just in the living room. We have mobile access to content now, which means that running those pesky errands with your kids in tow has become a heck of a lot easier. On top of that, living in an era of tons of streaming services, there are so many different routes to go when it comes to keeping our kids entertained.</p><p>Maybe you already have a Netflix account. If so, of course, there is a wealth of great children’s programming to choose from there. But, as we all well know, kids are expensive! Some of us may not be able to afford the extra $10 a month that these sorts of services can cost. When you’re a parent, every cent spent counts. This is why it is important for any parent to know about all of the great streaming sites out there for kids that are 100% free of cost.</p><p>However, as is the case with any free service, you want to make sure that the site you rely on has quality content – especially when it comes to what your kids are watching. In my opinion, if a kids’ show is entertaining, fine, but if it manages to be entertaining while also being in some way educational, all the better. When looking for a free cartoon streaming site, there is a certain level of trust which must be built. You can’t just throw on any old streaming site for your children and leave them to it; whatever site you end up choosing has to pass a very important test. And I’m here to help make that process just a little bit easier.</p><h3>History</h3><p>This brings us to a free streaming site for kids called Seez is Kids. This site was founded with one idea in mind: to provide children with a convenient, free, and no-strings resource for quality original content. Seez is Kids, on their About section, lays out what is essentially their mission statement: to provide “a VOD [Video On Demand] platform that focuses on the distribution of kids’ videos. We help young bloggers promote kids’ videos and boost their profits.”</p><p>They go on to say that “For users, we offer easy-to-use services and an extensive collection of kids’ videos available on PCs, tablets, and mobile devices. In these videos packed with favorite rhymes, children can learn colors and numbers, enjoy seeing other kids playing in the playground, unboxing toys, and taking funny challenges. All videos are free to watch with no registration required.”</p><p>So, Seez is Kids makes it clear that they are all about offering high-quality, entertaining, and educational content in a way that makes it as easy and convenient for parents (and kids) as possible to view. What more can you really ask for from a free kids’ streaming platform? Plus, it is, at least in my opinion, very refreshing to find any production company (free or otherwise) that focuses on meaningful and educational content in this day and age.</p><h3>Design</h3><p>The site is, I think, appropriately designed for children. It is fun, bursting with color and activity, and as easy as can be to navigate. The site relies more on images and thumbnails than it does text (again, a smart move for a kids’ platform), and is so user-friendly that even your toddler could eventually figure out how to use it on her own.</p><p>Seez is Kids has a site menu bar at the top of its home page that does not look like any site menu bar I have ever seen before. Instead of separating content by labeled categories, Seez is Kids does so with pictures that are tagged, further fostering the connections that your young child needs to be making as he navigates the site. For instance, if you want to find train videos, simply click on the animated train icon. The same is true for cars, colors, nursery rhymes, numbers, etc.</p><p>Below this menu, you’ll find videos by category, splayed out in a sort of Netflix format – horizontally scrollable menus that are, in this case, organized categorically. Browse through Baby Kids Songs, Pretty Patty’s Baby Rhymes, Learning with Colored Eggs, 3D Cartoons about Cars. The list goes on and on. These sections are all also found in a dropdown hamburger menu (and are, again, are heavily image-based).</p><h3>Content</h3><p>The videos themselves on Seez is Kids are all original. That being said, for original content on a free streaming service, they are also very well done. In fact, the short shows on this site rival those of many of the major kids’ cable networks. What I especially love about many of the Seez is Kids videos is the fact that they are, at the end of the day, educational. They are not just flashy and colorful for the sake of keeping your kid occupied. They are reinforcing schemas and healthy brain development while also keeping them engaged.</p><p>As far as age-appropriateness is concerned, though, I think Seez is Kids could be a tad bit limited. Based on the type of content – nursery rhymes, basic number/simple word recognition, etc., I would say that Seez is Kids would be appropriate for children up until they outgrow the toddler stage. So, 0-4 years old, probably, is what I would go with. Once they hit 5 and older, it may be time to find a different, more age-appropriate site.</p><h3>Desktop and Mobile Experience</h3><p>The desktop experience, as I’ve already touched on a little bit, is great. Like I said, it is very easy to navigate, and I love how kid-friendly the site design is. Unfortunately, and this may not be much of a surprise given the free nature of the site, there is not a Seez is Kids app at this time. Of course, an app always makes navigating content ten times easier, but there is a decent alternative.</p><p>The mobile site for Seez is Kids is one of the best mobile sites I have seen in a while. It is very much optimized for smartphones and tablets. It’s just as easy to use, and the streaming quality does not suffer in the slightest regardless of what device you are viewing it on.</p><h3>Suggestions that I have for Seez is Kids</h3><p>Well, the first thing that I would like to see Seez is Kids to in the future is to develop an app. Even if it is very basic, it would be nice to have a contained, totally safe space for children to access only Seez is Kids content. Secondly, Seez is Kids operates on ad revenue. Personally, I’m not crazy about my children being advertised to. So, it would be cool if Seez is Kids offered a premium service where content could be viewed ad-free.</p>

Seeziskids.com may not be the first streaming service that comes to mind when you think of what to put on for your kids. In fact, you may have never even heard of it. <p>The 90s kids rejoice! Nickelodeon now has a designated streaming channel. You can find shows like All That, Catdog, and more on NickSplat. The streaming channel is available through VRV.</p><p>VRV is a streaming subscription service that allows users to access channels. Some of the channels VRV provides is NickSplat, Boomerang, Crunchyroll, Cartoon Hangover, Hidive, Mondo, Rooster Teeth, and VRV Select. There are multiple ways to subscribe. You can choose which channels you would like individually for around $4.99 per month, or bundle all of them for $9.99.</p><p>NickSplat’s parent streaming host VRV was created in 2016 to create a viewing experience for fans of anime, animation, sci-fi, comic, and tech fans. The website has continued to expand since its launch. The website has had many channels throughout the years. The horror streaming app, Shudder used to be a channel on VRV, along with other notable channels. Shudder has since left along with Nerdist, Geek and Sundry, and Funimation.</p><h3>Website Design</h3><p>The website design of the parent streaming service is horrendous. The design is greyscaled with a few pops of color. Each channel has its own corresponding color. NickSplat, of course, is assigned orange. The main menu is a mess.</p><p>The NickSplat logo sits on a dropdown menu that allows the viewer to select the channel. In the middle of the menu, the VRV logo is front and center. On the right are symbols that correspond to the watchlist, search, and profile Unfortunately, you don’t really know what the symbols mean unless you click on them. At first glance, I thought the watchlist was a symbol to view the full library.</p><p>Below the main menu sits a featured program with the descriptive text being the focal point. Instead, I wish the image was the focal point and the description popped up when you hovered over the image or leaving the text off until clicking on the show. Underneath that is the limited number of NickSplat television shows.</p><p>There does not seem to be a rhythm of flow to the feed, at all. The groupings of the show on the main page are not alphabetical. The only real category seems to consist of Popular and Updated. Sifting through the shows from the home page may look chaotic, but when you click on view all it does sort alphabetically.</p><h3>Content</h3><p>Most of the content on NickSplat’s channel is for subscribers only. However, there are a few shows and episodes viewers can watch for free. VRV, NickSplat’s hosting stream service is only available in the USA, currently.</p><p>Nickelodeon’s official website and VRV themselves claim that there is a massive library of shows available to watch on the website. Unfortunately, I found that not to be the case. Scrolling through the home page might look promising, but when looking at the full library, the numbers just aren’t there.</p><p>Claiming to have a massive library of shows puts me in minds of at least hundreds of unique titles, while NickSplat has a whopping 8 shows in their library. Supposedly, they rotate out shows from Nickelodeon on a schedule. There is a website they claim allows you to see what will be coming to the channel next. However, I could only find what was currently playing and the titles that they had previously pulled. All in all, the library is a disappointment.</p><h3>Desktop &amp; Mobile Accessibility</h3><p>The desktop version of this website is not an enjoyable experience. On one hand, the website design is funky and pretty bland. On the other hand, the videos do not lag and audio quality is decent. In the grand scheme of things, this website falls somewhere in the middle. The navigation on the desktop is confusing.</p><p>The mobile browser of the parenting company, VRV takes you to a webpage asking you to download the app and create an account. When I clicked on the NickSplat channel it prompted me to try a 30-day free trial, instead, I downloaded the app.</p><p>The mobile app to watch NickSplat is called VRV, like the host website. The logo and colors are bright yellow, black, and white. My initial reaction to the application is positive. I created an account and there was a neat feature that allowed you to shake your phone to get a random username. Some of the suggestions were very clever and the art for the icons was awesome.</p><p>The home page for the app is put together nicely, but when it comes to NickSplat’s channel it is still a mess. The organization of the bottom menu is cleaner and more helpful. Unfortunately, the NickSplat feed is still very unorganized and all over the place.</p><h3>Positives</h3><p>In terms of the positive aspects of NickSplat, I cannot say that there are many. The parent streaming service VRV is something I am not used to seeing. The design is not very user-friendly. The NickSplay channel itself is not a good experience.</p><p>One of the few positives is the price. For just the NickSplat channel it is $4.99 per month. Under $5 sounds good, but there’s a catch. The library is very minuscule. There is an option to bundle all of the channels for $9.99, which is not a bad deal if you like the content from the other channels.</p><p>Lastly, the best part is the nostalgic titles. Shows like Rocket Power, Catdog, All That, Rocko’s Modern Life, and a few more are available right now. Even though there aren’t many shows, there are quite a few episodes available for each series. Some of the episodes are even free to people without subscriptions so that is a plus.</p><h3>Negatives</h3><p>There are more than a handful of issues with NickSplat. It has been more of a frustrating experience than a positive one. One major problem is that the root of most of the issues is hard to pinpoint.</p><p>Being a channel, hosted by a larger streaming service is no doubt limiting. VRV is the home to the NickSplat channel. Overall, I am not a fan of their layout or streaming service. The website design is not user-friendly. The grey-scale theme is popular among streaming websites, but this one is not appealing at all.</p><p>Navigation for the website is very confusing. If you do not know exactly what you are looking for, it will take a few minutes to figure out. The flow of the website is not good. There is no pattern for the categories or the featured blocked out shows.</p><p>Lack of organization is the worst part of the website. It feels like little to no effort was put into the NickSplat’s channel. Unless you visit the view all shows tab you will find no rhyme or reason to the main feed. Once you click on all shows it is organized alphabetically.</p><p>Another issue is that the amount you pay for the number of titles you receive. There are only 8 titles on NickSplat, currently. Both Nickelodeon and VRV claim there is a massive library of nostalgic goodness. However, that is a grievous understatement. In my mine, a large library is upwards of 100 unique titles, preferably more.</p><p>Lastly, for the media giant, Nickelodeon, I was expecting bright orange and green on their page. What I found was a grey-scale with a single orange stripe near the top menu. It just was not enough. It felt like all of the life had been sucked out of the channel. I was hoping to see some Splat artwork but was met with disappointment.</p><h3>Improvements Needed</h3><p>There are many changes that could be made to improve the NickSplat stream. The easiest thing would be to add more titles to the stream. The company claims that they regularly rotate shows, but ideally making their whole library available would be much better. Another idea would be to add more graphics to make the channel feel more like Nickelodeon.</p><p>Finally, the best change would be switching from using a streaming subscription service to having their own. If Nickelodeon would utilize all of the titles available to them from Nick, Nick Jr. Noggin, TeenNick, and the other versions of their brand they could pull off an awesome streaming service.</p><h3>Summary</h3><p>NickSplat has all of the potential to be a great streaming experience. Unfortunately, as it stands now, it is a nightmare. The pricing for the subscription to the channel may be small, but it is not worth it.</p><p>The amount of titles available for subscribing members is pitiful. <p>Cartons are for kids! Well, thankfully, this is not necessarily always the case. Of course, there is some truth to that statement; animated series are traditionally meant for children. But, today, this archetype is being challenged left and right. With a burgeoning market of adult cartoons – that was spearheaded by shows like The Simpsons, South Park, and Family Guy – maybe adults can enjoy animated series just as much as kids. And, every once in a while, it can be fun to revisit the cartoons of our childhood today.</p><p>They just don’t make cartoons like they used to. I don’t know how old you are, dear reader, but I, for one, grew up in the golden age of animation. Yes, I’m talking about shows like Looney Tunes, Scooby-Doo, as well as all of the beloved shorts featuring iconic characters like Porky Pig, Donald Duck, Pluto, Mickey Mouse (back before he was just a mascot for Disney), Wile E. Coyote, and Tom and Jerry. All of the classics.</p><p>I would be lying to you if I said that I never get nostalgic for these shows. The minute that I put on an episode of Scooby-Doo or Looney Tunes, I am immediately transported to my childhood home. I am a kid again, sitting on the rug, inches away from the TV, with a bowl of cereal, laughing hysterically as Road Runner takes Wile E. Coyote off yet another cliff, or under yet another anvil. Ah, it really doesn’t get much better than that.</p><p>A lot of free cartoon streaming sites are geared towards children specifically, but, every once in a while, I come across the rare site that features tons of content from my childhood. Sites like Super Cartoons, however, are not only good for the occasional fun trip down memory lane, they make it easy for me to share my favorite childhood shows with my own kids.</p><p>When my son’s face lights up at the site of Bugs Bunny or Tasmanian Devil, I cannot even tell you how much joy it brings me. The fact that sites like this exist is a godsend. I love being able to revisit my own childhood while also sharing with my own children the gift of quality animation.</p><p>The current state of cartoons, of course, is a far cry from the classics. And I, for one, miss the days that cartoons were still cartoons, and not CGI computer graphics or live-action remakes that blur the lines between animation and reality. Cartoons should be absurd, ridiculous, and full of imagination. This is why sites like Super Cartoons are great for those of us who are still kids at heart and, of course, our own children alike.</p><h3>History</h3><p>With free streaming sites like this, it can be difficult to find any actual history. The creators of these sites often remain largely anonymous, much of the ways in which the sites came to be are kept pretty under wraps. The one thing that I can say with certainty about Super Cartoons is the fact that, according to the site, it has been in operation since 2012.</p><p>The fact that Super Cartoons has managed to stay around for almost a decade for free is exceptionally impressive. And here’s to Super Cartoons sticking around another decade (and beyond!), as it is a wonderful archive of some of the most classic (and difficult to find) animated content of all time.</p><h3>Design</h3><p>Super Cartoons has a super simple site design. When you land on the home page, you will be greeted by a sky-blue background with animated clouds softly lining the top of the page. It is, I admit, not the best-looking streaming site that I have ever seen, but it feels appropriate for the content that it features. It lends the site a real air of animated fun, and I always appreciate it when a site’s design mirrors in some way the content that it features.</p><p>Beyond that, though, the site is organized fairly well. A site menu bar at the top of the page allows you to browse Super Cartoons’ videos by a few different options. Simply choose between Home, Cartoons, Characters, Studios, or Series. This lets you browse the site as broadly or as specifically as you wish. The one main feature that it is blatantly missing, however, is a search bar, in case you want to type in a specific keyword and not have to click through page by page to find what it is that you are looking for.</p><p>Once you click into a video, an embedded JW Media Player will display your content of choice. It is a very basic setup, and additional videos will be featured above the player. Simply click into a full-screen mode to become immersed in the content or minimize it to see more information and view additional videos. Each video comes with a description underneath, including a synopsis, studio and character credits, and an overall rating (given by fellow Super Cartoons users).</p><p>I think that the site design could probably be made a little more experiential. I would like, for instance, to have the design more closely resemble that of, say, Netflix – or even YouTube for that matter, allowing for a more fluid experience of all the videos that the site has to offer. But, for what it is, Super Cartoons certainly gets the job done … with minimal ads and zero fees or subscriptions necessary, I might add.</p><h3>Content</h3><p>I have already touched upon most of what Super Cartoons has to offer but allow me to reiterate in case I missed anything. On this site, you will find only the best of the best, the classic animations. Enjoy the timeless cartoons of our youth, free of charge, like Tom and Jerry, Bugs Bunny, Mickey Mouse, Scooby-Doo, Donald Duck, Tasmanian Devil, etc.</p><p>The home page of Super Cartoons boasts that it hosts over 1,000 cartoon shorts. I hate to be the guy who is looking for things to complain about, but I do think that this archive could be expanded quite a bit. I would like to see Super Cartoons add more shows from more networks and a broader range of time periods. The newest cartoon that you’ll find on Super Cartoons likely aired in the 1970s. And it includes no full-length episodes or movies at that.</p><p>Super Cartoons could be made even more super if they added a few newer shows (let’s get some stuff from the 80s, 90s, and early aughts even), as well as if they added in a few feature-length presentations. However, I understand that this would result in a copyright nightmare and could potentially jeopardize the entire site.</p><h3>Desktop and Mobile Experience</h3><p>Unfortunately, as of now, there is no Super Cartoons app. This, of course, would greatly enhance the user experience from a mobile perspective (for obvious reasons). That being said, the site is pretty well optimized for mobile browsers. In fact, as far as free streaming sites go, Super Cartoons has one of the best mobile experiences that I have ever seen. Simply scroll down the list of titles and click into whatever you want to see without being inundated with too many ads or a clunky design. The site works well whether you are on your desktop computer, iPhone, Android, or tablet.</p><h3>Pricing and Plans</h3><p>Arguably the best aspect of Super Cartoons is the fact that it is 100% free, with minimal ads. Most sites like this are absolutely riddled in popups, on-page advertisements, and ads that play before the video content begins. Super Cartoons, however, are especially light-handed when it comes to their ads. A simple adblocker will keep you from any unwanted solicitation with no problems.</p><h3>Suggestions that I have for Super Cartoons</h3><p>Well, for one thing, I would love to see Super Cartoons develop a decent app. The way that the site is designed and the type of archived content that it features, I think, would really lend itself well to the app space. However, this is probably unlikely, given the nature of the site.</p><p>That being said, I do think that Super Cartoons, as I mentioned earlier, could definitely benefit by expanding their roster of shows. As of now, the site remains somewhat niche. I would love to see their offerings expanded. Perhaps a premium upgrade could make this possible.</p>

Everything on this site is a breeze to navigate, whether you know what you’re looking for or you are just browsing.</p><p>The first design feature that really stands out to me is how the page is framed on 2 sides, the top (horizontally) and the left (vertically). At the top of the page, you will find a side-scrolling menu of shows and content to choose from. Each show is represented by a graphical icon, usually featuring the show’s main character, adding to the usability of this free cartoon streaming site.</p><p>On the left-hand side of the page, you’ll find another menu containing more ways to browse, as well as user options. Quickly access movies, shows, games, books, or favorites. Or maybe I should say that their shows and movies are so entertaining to kids that they won’t even realize that they are learning as they watch.</p><p>I am crazy about Studio 100 Go’s profile system, too. From the moment you make an account on this free cartoon streaming site, you (and your little one, of course) will be asked a series of questions. Select the age of the child, the gender, choose an avatar, and pick 3 shows and/or interests so that Studio 100 Go can personalize the experience and the content. The first flaw, though, is the fact that the banner awkwardly ends before it reaches the border of the page. Secondly, the banner is just a random block of blackness. In the very corner, you’ll find a glowing comic sans-y word art logo. In an even smaller font, hardly legible, is the site’s slogan:
“Home of Streaming” … <em>brilliant</em>.</p><p>Below this weirdly sized banner is an even more oddly sized site menu. Choose from a selection of tiny sports related clip-art. Filter the live stream results by choosing the basketball, hockey puck, (what I think are) boxing gloves, tennis ball, baseball, American football, soccer ball, rugby football, or a couple other icons which I cannot make out. Clicking on any one of these, I should note, brings you to a whole new page (as opposed to simply updating the list of live streams below).</p><p>Other than the list of scheduled live sports streams and a chat section, the whole of the site has already been navigated. Unfortunately, this free sports streaming site is far from impressive. Probably not, right? Well, prepare to be unsurprised … Crick Free (predictably) does not have a mobile app, neither for iOS nor Android devices. To be fair, though, it is incredibly rare for a site like this to offer an app, even the best free sports streaming sites often don’t have them.</p><p>The mobile experience of this site is no netter than the desktop one. Although you will be able to access this link index from your phone or tablet, the site does not resize or reformat in any way. What you are left with is an extremely awkward mobile experience that requires a lot of zooming in and out.</p><p>Adding to the list of negative remarks, Crick Free does also employ their fair share of invasive popup ads. What’s worse, Crick Free is going to demand that you disable your ad blocker (if you have one) before allowing you to stream live sports. Pair this with the fact that a McAfee warning popped up upon one of Crick Free’s many redirects and that is enough for me to advise against doing this. However, I am not here to tell you what to do. A must-have for entertainment lovers in Australia, Stan TV is one of the best streaming services I have ever seen, with one of the most impressive lists of shows and movies on the market. In fact, some of the contracts that Stan TV has managed to nail down are quite impressive, including rights to content from Disney, Paramount, CBS, MTV, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon – pretty much any and every film studio and TV network worth noting today.

But anyone who is familiar with streaming apps knows that content, although arguably the most important, is not the only category to take into account. The best premium streaming apps also offer great design, plenty of useful features, and a fair price. So, without further ado, let’s dive in and take a look at Stan TV and see, once and for all if it is worth your time and money.
<h3>History</h3>
Perhaps the best way to discuss the history of Stan would be to go on a trip through its content acquisition. Stan TV launched in January of 2015, and its release coincided with the premiere of Better Call Saul. Stan also received exclusive rights to Breaking Bad (which, prior to Stan, only aired on Foxtel in Australia). These weren’t the only big-name shows that Stan offered from the very beginning. It also provided users with Transparent and Mozart in the Jungle.

From the very beginning, Stan acquired partnership deals with Sony, ABC, SBS, Viacom, MGM, BBC Worldwide, Showtime, CBS, Village Roadshow, and Warner Bros. Seldom does a fledgling streaming service nab such contracts in its early days. Success was imminent for Stan.

The content profile of Stan TV only continued to expand from there. On December 15th of 2014, Stan signed an agreement with ABC Commercial, which included hundreds of hours of archived Australian ABC content, including the popular series Summer Heights High, Janet King, Ja’mie: Private School Girl, Jack Irish, Upper Middle Bogan, Bob the Builder, The Moodys, and Angelina Ballerina (to name but a few).

From there, Stan just kept growing. Just two days later, on December 17th of 2014, Stan went on to sign non-exclusive agreements with Viacom in order to feature shows from MTV, Comedy Central, and Nickelodeon. Suddenly, Stan had the rights to offer shows like SpongeBob SquarePants, iCarly, Teen Mom, South Park, Tosh.0, My Super Sweet Sixteen, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Reno 911.

Stan did not stop growing in 2014, either. In the following years, Stan would acquire content from Warner Bros, the Nine Network, and Paramount Pictures. In a war for content share with Netflix, something tells me that Stan is only getting started when it comes to acquiring the best content available.
<h3>Design</h3>
I really enjoy the way that Stan is designed. It has a sleek and professional look to it. With a refreshing theme that is largely blue and black. It’s nice to see a splash of color on a premium streaming app, as the majority of them tend to use dark themes, heavy on black and gray.

I am also a huge fan of the app’s layout. Instead of dividing it into a bunch of sections at the top or the bottom of the app, Stan has opted for a sleeker and, I think, less distracting way to separate its content. With a simple hamburger dropdown menu at the top, simply click on the menu to toggle to a new category (shows, movies, etc.). When you aren’t using the menu, it goes away, allowing for a fuller experience of the app as you browse and explore content.

That being said, as good as it looks and as impressive as the layout may be, the app is not the most reliable. It crashes often, and you cannot minimize video so that you might continue watching content while doing other things on your phone (answering texts, messages, etc.). Also, the swiping between shows function is not nearly as smooth or natural as it could be. It’s easy to forget sometimes that app design is not all about looks. The functionality is even more important. And, sadly, Stan is not the best-functioning streaming app there is.
<h3>Content</h3>
As I have already outlined, Stan is one of the best premium streaming apps when it comes to the quantity and quality of its content. You can’t argue with the shows and movies that Stan has to offer. It has plenty of fan favorites, cult classics, and hit shows and movies to watch. Plus, Stan, like Netflix and Hulu, offers some of its own original programmings. Original shows such as No Activity, Plonk, Wolf Creek, Romper Stomper, Bloom, The Other Guy, The Gloaming, and The Commons help to further set Stan apart from the competition.

If quality content is your main concern, you won’t be able to go wrong with Stan.
<h3>Pricing and Plans</h3>
What you pay for Stan depends on what streaming quality you want, how many simultaneous streams you require, and the number of offline download devices you want. Here is a quick breakdown of the different plans that Stan TV offers:

-Stan TV Basic: $10/month, standard definition streaming, one simultaneous stream, and one download device.
-Stan TV Standard: $14/month, HD streaming, three simultaneous streams, three download devices.
-Stan TV Premium: $17/month, 4K streaming, four simultaneous streams, five download devices.

So, long story short, if you want to make the most out of the Stan TV app, you will have to pay a pretty penny.

If Stan really wants to become a major competitor for Netflix, they will have to offer more for their basic $10/month subscription tier. The standard resolution is fine (I guess … Netflix is not exactly famous for its HD streaming). Where my problem lies is in only one simultaneous stream for that price. I think at least two would give Stand more of a competitive edge in the space. They will also have to, once and for all, fix all of those pesky bugs and crashing issues on the app.

It is as if every streaming service on the web is constantly trying to outdo one another, competing for who can release the highest number of new TV series and movies each year. I mean, even Netflix has publicly stated that they plan to, within the foreseeable future, offer nothing but Netflix original content. Their competitors, like Hulu and Amazon Prime Video, have already begun shifting their focus away from syndicated content and towards original content production, too.</p><p>This is, of course, like most things, both a blessing and a curse. On the one hand, when all of the best movie streaming sites compete with one another to put out the highest-quality new movies, well, we viewers have a much better selection of fresh content to enjoy, often featuring some of the greatest actors to ever grace the silver screen. This is awesome and everything, but new content can also be a bit of a gamble.</p><p>For every new Oscar-worthy movie that the best streaming sites like Netflix and Hulu produce, there are like 5 garbage films. Instead, here you will find a movie streaming service that focuses on quality … providing only classic Danish films, with no concern for trends.</p><p>Dansk Filmskat, I believe, can be loosely translated to “Danish film treasure,” in English. If I am way off with that translation, please don’t hold it too harshly against me, my Danish isn’t great (and when I say that my Danish isn’t great, I mean that my Danish is nonexistent). I’m almost positive that there are nuances to the word “filmskat” that I am missing with my crude Google</p><p>translation. Nevertheless, I don’t have to be fluent in Danish in order to say this: Dansk Filmskat is easily one of the best movie streaming sites that I have reviewed in recent memory.</p><p>It’s not just the superior quality of the films that this service lets members stream, there is much to love about Dansk Filmskat. For example, the service is one of the more affordable premium movie streaming sites on the market today (I will never argue with classic films at a fair price). It’s like a high-end blog that offers behind-the-scenes info, features, and fascinating takes on all of your old favorite movies. Read about a movie as you stream it or discover a movie you never heard of and then watch it. Whereas most streaming sites would cut straight to the chase and try to wow visitors right off the bat with the impressive library of movies and maybe TV series that they have available to stream for free, Nya Filmer does not go in this direction.</p><p>Instead, you will be greeted by a largely black page. In the middle of this negative space will sit a search bar, enabling you to quickly and conveniently search whatever movie it is that you are in the mood for. Otherwise, you can click on “Go to Home Page,” or “I’m Feeling Lucky” for a Google-inspired random search result – could be a fun way to discover your next favorite film, who knows?</p><p>For the purposes of our review today, though, let’s go to the home page to start. Now Nya Filmer starts to look more like the streaming site layout that I am familiar with. Below the site menu bar, you will find an automatically side-scrolling plater of featured movies – if any of these catch your attention, well, no need to browse the rest of the site for now. If not, you can scroll down, where you will find a gallery of recently added movies. I would have preferred, personally, an infinity scroll, I think, for a site like this, but Nya Filmer lets you browse their recently added titles by clicking through, page after page (of which, as of the time of this review, there are 586),</p><p>Unfortunately, Nya Filmer is going to require that you disable your ad blocker before allowing you to stream movies for free. Do so at your own risk. I don’t get the impression that these ads are harmful but, then again, you never really know until you run a virus scan.</p><h3>Content and Features</h3><p>So, naturally, Nya Filmer provides its users with plenty of new films. But the site also lets you stream classic movies and films from all genres – action, comedy, drama, horror, sci fi, history, crime, etc. Free movies are not all that you will find on Nya Filmer, though … the site also has a sizeable archive of free TV series streaming on-demand. No matter what kind of entertainment you happen to be in the mood for, Nya Filmer will have you covered.</p><p>The browsing mechanism on this site is pretty good, too, so long as you don’t mind having to search for it a little bit. From the dropdown menu, click on Movies or Series (whichever category you prefer), and you will be able to browse, filter, and sort titles however you see fit. Filter by genre(s), video quality (1080p or HD), languages, or years released. This makes it as easy as it should be to find precisely the movie or TV series you want in no time at all.</p><p>Regarding the ads … there is a way to get around them. Even though Nya Filmer requires users to disable their ad blocker, you can donate to the site and, in return, receive an ad-free experience. If you end up really liking this site, it may be something to consider.</p><h3>Mobile and Desktop Experience</h3><p>I was not surprised to see that Nya Filmer does not have a mobile app available (sites like these seldom do). However, I was pleased to discover that the mobile version of the site is fully capable and user friendly. You should have no issues streaming free movies from your mobile web browser.</p>
