The rise of streaming services has allowed users to watch their favorite content for free. Among movies and tv show fanatics, there are many people who love anime. Anime as an art appeals to a wide range of audience thanks to the epic plots and contemporary animation. Though the Japanese culture has been at the forefront of this anime revolution, this piece of art has taken over the world in less than a few decades.
Today, anime fans around the world watch content in two ways – subbed and dubbed. Major distributors have taken it upon themselves to provide non-Japanese with a dubbed version. However, at the heart of it, true anime lovers prefer the subbed version over the dubbed one. Nonetheless, that doesn’t mean that there’s no demand for the dubbed version. Many of the anime found life in the west after their dubbed versions were made available in the western countries and other Asian countries.
Today, we’re reviewing a website that has dubs in its name. Thus, as a viewer, you’d know what to expect on this streaming website.
What is JustDub?
JustDubs is a great website to find all your favorite dubbed anime in one place. Be it Death Note, Pokemon, Dragon Ball, Demon Slayer, or One Piece, you’ll find all of the popular shows on this network. It’s a free website where users can watch anime in high quality. JustDub has a decent content library of over 600 series – all of which are available in the English iteration. The website is quite similar to the popular anime and manga related websites and thus browsing around the platform is not very difficult.
Why should you stream on JustDubs?
There are plenty of reasons why you should stream on JustDubs. However, I’ll share only a few of the key points so you can understand why I like this website.
Unlike the major anime-centric websites, JustDubs takes a more professional approach as compared to the fancy one. The dark background with purple menus really stands out in my opinion. It’s not just the design that catches your attention but the menus and different sections as well. The content is very well segregated and thus it’s easier to find what you’re looking for.
The design sense in addition to the user functionality deserves plaudits. There are numerous categories with six thumbnails in each one. There are sections such as ‘Latest Episodes’, ‘Latest Animes’, and ‘Latest Cartoons’, which help you stay abreast of all the content that is being updated on the website.
I love how each series has an anime directory under the video player. This works like a playlist and thus even if you click on any random episode, you’ll be able to track back all the episodes that can begin from scratch. The Anime directory is very helpful if you’re a new user and if you’re an anime lover, you’re certainly going to love this feature. Most users don’t like to spoil an anime session and thus they prefer watching from the first episode.
The sorting feature on the website is another one that catches my attention. There are multiple ways in which you can sort the content. First, you can try and sort using the genres. Other than that, you can try sorting by TV/Movie, Ongoing/Completed, Ascending/Descending, and Alphabetical arrangement. You can choose any option and then click on the filter option.
Why shouldn’t you stream on JustDubs?
One thing I really like about anime websites is that there are plenty of websites that work towards providing a quality streaming experience. The integrated video player on the website eliminates the malware and other malpractices as there’s no redirection and you’re able to stream the content on the website itself. In addition to the misclicks, and intrusive adverts, there are quite a few pop-ups that you need to deal with first before you can start streaming.
How to access JustDubs?
Accessing JustDubs is quite simple. You can do so in two ways. 1. Search for the term ‘JustDubs’, and you’ll find the website on the first page of your search results. 2. Use the following link: JustDubs, to access the website directly. Before accessing the website make sure that you’re using an active VPN so you can protect your identity from hackers as well as your device from malware.
I love the dark theme on this website. The B/W background with a purple menu and white text really click for me. However, I’m not a big fan of the logo. It fails to stand out and makes the website appear spammy because of the lackluster design. Apart from the logo, the interface, the menus, font, and thumbnails look great.
The header section of the website is far below the usual placement. It’s at the center of the hero section. There’s the logo at the top and there are five key options on the purple background. These options are ‘Anime Series’, ‘Cartoon Series’, ‘Ongoing Anime’, ‘Movies’, and ‘Random’. These are all standard menus which we’ve seen on all the other websites.
Though the majority of the hero section starts much later than the header section, it still manages to pack some crucial information. Right at the start, you can find two different categories – ‘Latest Episodes for Anime’ and ‘Latest Episodes for Toon’. Each of these categories has six thumbnails.
The body section on JustDubs continues the good work we saw in the hero section. It mainly comprises different sections such as the ‘Latest Anime’ and ‘Latest Cartoons’. Under each of these sections, you’ll find six thumbnails in a single row. Thus, each category has 12 vertical banners.
I was slightly disappointed to see that there were no navigation buttons or other information in the footer section. There’s just the copyright text and thus the footer is pretty much useless.
After the disappointing footer, I enjoyed the inner pages. The layout of these pages is quite similar to the homepage except these come with sorting options. There are six vertical thumbnails in each row and you can sort the content based upon alphabetical order, genre, status, and language. Simply choose your options and click on the filter button to access the content as per your taste.
With 600 dubbed anime series, it’s fair to say that JustDubs does have an extensive content library. You can find the latest anime series such as Love Stage, Beastars, Castlevania, Asteroid in Love, in/Spectre, KonoSuba, Cagaster of an Insect Cage alongside many others.
If you want to watch iconic dubbed anime series such as Dragon Ball, Pokemon, One Piece, Naruto or Death Note, you’ll find those as well on this website. Other than animes you can watch latest cartoons such as ‘Tuca and Bertie’, ‘DC Super Hero Girls 2019’, ‘Sherwood’, ‘Carmen Sandiego’, ‘Power Rangers Beast Morphers’, ‘WTF 101’, ‘Gen:Lock’, and ‘Tigtone’ among many others.
I streamed on JustDubs using my Asus Vivobook 15 and I wasn’t very happy with the quality. Sure, the design appeal was there but when it came to the end product, the website was average at best. The most happening thing on the website was the playlist and the next episode button which allows you to binge-watch without any obstruction.
Just Dubs being a free platform does feature a lot of ads. There’s a vignette ad followed by several pop-up ads. Even the sidebar has various banners and third-party links. What’s worse is that JustDubs works as a content aggregator as opposed to the content host. Thus, if the original sites decide to take down the content, it will no longer be available on the platform. Additionally, there’s no auto-play feature or standout video player.
Suggestions I have for JustDubs
There’s plenty of room for improvement on this website. JustDubs is far from perfection and I believe with time and effort, the developers can fix major loopholes. The ads, pop-ups, and streaming qualities can be fixed. I just hope that the developers pay attention to that.
JustDubs is a good website to watch anime series. However, don’t expect anything significant or mind-blowing on the website. The streaming quality is pretty bang average and fails to live up to the expectations set by the design and intuitive user interface.
