For music lovers all around the world, this may be the best time to be alive. Not only is more music being released than ever before, but music is also way more accessible than it has ever been. Even though I can appreciate the timelessly rich sound quality of a vinyl record just as much as the next audiophile, I am by no means nostalgic for the days when vinyl, cassettes, and CDs were the only way to buy and listen to music. It’s 2021, and I have immediate access to millions of songs in my back pocket at all times; I have no interest in turning back time whatsoever.

Thanks to the numerous music streaming sites that exist today, seldom do I ever have to go without being able to listen to whatever song I happen to be in the mood to hear. Whether you are loyal to Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, YouTube Music, or something else, for cheaper than the price of 1 full album per month, you can stream hundreds at will, and I don’t have to lug around crates of records in order to do so. It is truly a beautiful time to be alive.

Sometimes, though, I will admit it, it can seem a little daunting to try and figure out, of the many options available, which is the best music streaming site or app. Plus, there are new music streaming sites being launched all the time, making the decision even more difficult. Each one caters to a slightly different demographic, has a slightly different selection of songs, and costs a slightly different price per month. How, then, can we access the most music while spending the least amount of money?

Fortunately, there are several great free music streaming sites that every music fan needs to know about. Although these may not always be the best music streaming sites to depend on solely, if you are smart about it, you can easily supplement whatever premium music streaming app you prefer with several free music streaming sites to ensure that you have as comprehensive an access to music as possible.

The first step to doing this: find a list that rates and reviews the best free music streaming sites on the web. Check … You’ve already done that by getting yourself here to Congratulations! Give yourself a well-deserved pat on the back. The hardest part is over.

Next, and this is the fun part, all you have to do is browse through all my reviews of the best music streaming sites, find the free ones, and audition each of them to see which ones call out to you. This step, too, is one that you have already begun, just by taking the time to read this review of what just might be the best free music streaming site for Hindi and Bollywood music, Pagal World.

Pagal World is a bit different from a majority of the top music streaming sites that you’ll find on my list. It isn’t, for instance, an app-based music streaming service. It doesn’t ask you for any payment. It doesn’t make you deal with torrents or anything like that. It’s something of an old-school music streaming and downloading site. You simply browse the thousands of free songs that are available on Pagal world and either stream them directly from the site itself or download them in MP3 format. It doesn’t get much simpler than that!

The other way in which Pagal World differs from many of the best music streaming sites on this list is its focus. Instead of casting as wide a net as possible and trying to provide every genre, every song, and every artist from all over the world (which almost always results in a site coming up short), Pagal World caters to nothing but Indian pop and Bollywood music – songs that are often harder to find or less prominently featured on the top music streaming apps like Spotify or Deezer.

So, if you are a fan of Indian and Bollywood music, Pagal World definitely has the potential to be the best free music streaming site for you. Whether you can’t find a given track on your go-to music streaming service or you would just prefer to download the song directly to your device, Pagal World will be an invaluable free music streaming resource, no doubt.

Having written streaming site reviews, though, for years now, one thing that I have learned is to never get to excited about a site based on its premise alone. A great idea does not always lead to a great website. A majority of whether a site is, in fact, one of the best music streaming sites depends a lot on its execution – how the site is designed, how user-friendly it is, how reliable the streaming and sound quality tends to be, how mobile friendly it is, and so on. The only way to figure out for sure whether Pagal World is the best music streaming site for you is to take a closer look at everything it has to offer. So, without further ado, allow me to introduce you to Pagal World.

Right off the bat, immediately upon landing on the site’s homepage, I can tell you that the site design leaves a lot to be desired. Earlier I referred to Pagal World as more of an old-school music streaming site in its approach to streaming and downloading free music. Well, unfortunately, the site’s interface also reinforces this assessment.

There is nothing dynamic or experiential about this site. I almost want to call it more manual than automatic. Or, to use a music analogy, the site design is flat and mono compared to a fuller, richer, more ‘stereo’ app like Spotify (those puritanical vinyl collectors that I mentioned earlier will get this). Put plainly, the site looks and feels somewhat unfinished, rough, and clumsy.

At the top of the page, you’ll find what I can only assume is supposed to be something like a site menu bar. Here, you can browse by genre: Bollywood, Punjabi, Indie, and Top Songs 2021. Below this is a weirdly placed full-page red bar, which just reads “A to Z Bollywood Mp3 Songs” with a rotating gear (…beats me…) situated on either side of the text. Clicking on this then redirects you to a page from where you can click on a letter and then be brought to another page from where you can browse all artists of that letter. Like I said, the site is very manual and requires a lot of forward and back-clicking, as opposed to the smoother, more integrated site design we are used to in 2021.

Scroll down the homepage about halfway, though, and there are some halfway decent means of browsing. Discover free music by latest updates, category listings (it seems to me as if this should be at the top of the page as the menu bar), recent albums, top songs, top songs of all time, and more. Each song, then, has its own page which provides some info, a very basic audio player, and some songs you might like. I don’t know if it even needs to be said explicitly, but Pagal World could really use an update and a makeover, if you ask me.

Content and Features

Surprisingly, we have already covered almost everything that Pagal World has to offer. Thousands of Hindi, Punjabi, and Bollywood songs to either stream or download (or, of course, both). The best music streaming sites, of course, also let you create playlists, add songs to a favorites list, and offer personalized suggestions based on complexly personalized algorithms. Pagal World, however, is more of a one trick pony: discover, stream, and download free music.

In addition to streaming Indian music, though, there are some cool features that aren’t often found on other music streaming sites. For instance, you can watch music videos and download ringtones. These may not be groundbreaking features for one of the best music streaming sites in the world to offer, but they can provide some fun, nonetheless.

Mobile and Desktop Experience

There is no Pagal World mobile app available, but the browser site is mobile friendly. When it comes to free music streaming sites, I don’t think anybody expects a Spotify-esque user experience. But it is easy enough to find and stream songs on your mobile device. There are a ton of ads to deal with, sure, but at least the song continues to play even if your browser is minimized (chew on that, YouTube).
